2008 High Roller Reining Classic
It was a successful weekend in Las Vegas for Matt Mills, but the talented trainer wasn’t gambling at the tables of the South Point Casino. Instead, he was riding his top futurity horse, The Sargeant Dunnit to the Open Futurity Reserve Championship.
Mills and The Sargeant Dunnit, owned by C&J Investment Partnership of Topeka, Kan., scored a 221 in the Open Futurity after drawing up early in the competition. Their score of 221 held up until nearly the end, when they were edged out by Electrical Flash and Todd Bergen. Still, Mills and The Sargeant Dunnit, by Reminic N Dunit and out of Ms Sargeant Freckles by Sargeant Freckles, earned a check worth $2,816 for their efforts.
Mills is planning to continue showing The Sargeant Dunnit on the fall futurity circuit, with the next stop being the Scottsdale Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona, then on to the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City.
Mills also won the Novice Horse Open title on Two Step Wrangler, owned by Barbara Townsend.
Congratulations also go out to Becky Sefton, who won the reserve championship in the Prime Time Rookie Class on Dun With Caution.
Great job to everyone on the show, and best of luck down the road!
